Ryan Thomas Gosling was born on November 12, 1980, in Ontario, Canada. At the age of 13, he went to an open audition for the TV series called “The Mickey Mouse Club” and secured a place on the show. Without any formal acting training, he embarked on an acting career with stars like Justin Timberlake.
After making his way from TV to film, Gosling appeared in the cult classic, “The Notebook” in 2004. After that he became a household name quickly—and a worldwide heartthrob. His acclaimed performance in “Half Nelson” in 2006 saw him receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He would later go on to receive a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his role as a jazz pianist in “La La Land” in 2017.
Following his early childhood success, Gosling continued to work and be an eligible bachelor in the entertainment world. He would date well-known actresses like Sandra Bullock and Rachel McAdams. Eventually, Gosling worked with actress Eva Mendes in 2011 while filming “The Place Beyond the Pines,” and the two have been together ever since. Gosling and Mendes have not officially tied the knot but do raise two daughters together.
These days the A-list actor’s time isn’t just occupied by his girlfriend, Mendes, but the couple’s two young daughters as well. Their daughter Esmeralda was born in 2014 and their daughter Amada was born in 2016. Gosling and Mendes are infamous for keeping their relationship private. As of April 2022, Mendes has completely erased all content off of her 2.6 million follower Instagram account after break-up rumors hit the internet.

Gosling and Mendes were both full-time actors when they met. Gosling told ET Canada in 2015, “I know that I’m with the person I’m supposed to be with.” He added, “…she’s Eva Mendes. There’s nothing else I’m looking for.”
The couple who has been together for over a decade is now working double time with acting and raising their family. These days the family keeps a lowkey profile. However, fans were ecstatic in 2017 when Gosling spoke up about his family during his Golden Globe acceptance speech for “La La Land,”
“While I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer. So sweetheart, thank you,” he said onstage. Gosling continued: “Thank you. And to my daughters, Amada and Esmeralda, I love you. And I’d like to dedicate this to the memory of her brother, Juan Carlos Mendez.”
Mendes told E! News being a parent has changed her and Goslings’ careers. “Now that I’m older and that I’m a mother, I would obviously choose my roles differently. I’m just a walking example for [my daughters] and I take that very seriously so it would have to be something that feels appropriate and that would still be fun for me. It’s a lot of parameters, you know?” she told E!. “But yes, I would be very excited. And I really want to work with Ryan again. My most fun experience was being on set with him when he was directing,” she added.

With his girls growing older, in 2021 Gosling opened up to British GQ about some normal parent woes during the pandemic. He told British GQ, “Our kids are young, so it was a tough time for them to be separated from other kids and not being able to see family and whatnot. So, we did our best to entertain them. I think Eva and I did more acting in quarantine than we have in our whole careers.”
Having traveled and worked all over the world, when it comes to parenting, Mendes said this is her and Gosling’s hardest role yet. She also told host Kelly Clarkson on the “Kelly Clarkson Show,” in 2019, “And people are so sweet, they really try to, like warn you, prep you when you’re pregnant—but nobody can prep you. Nobody. And nobody told me it was really going to be a job. And a job that I needed an incredible amount of skills for—like in different areas! A chauffeur, a cook, a personal assistant to an abusive boss.”
Time flies when you’re having fun for the couple who has been together almost 11 years. Gosling told British GQ, “And then on a personal level, I think about time more than I used to. I have two kids and they’re growing up fast. So I keep my eye on the clock more than I used to.”
Have you ever heard the phrase, “No news is good news?” Starting in January 2022 internet rumors have been swirling around alleging that the Gosling and Mendes might be having trouble in paradise. Sources told OK! Magazine, “They rarely socialize,” the insider said about the Hollywood couple. “It’s tough on Ryan to live like a hermit.”
