Prince William Gets New Title from King Charles as Prince Harry Arrives in the UK

The British royal family saw some major adjustments at the beginning of this month.

To commemorate the Invictus Games’ tenth anniversary, Prince Harry made a trip back to London. Meanwhile, King Charles gave his brother, Prince William, a noteworthy new title during his visit. While the date appeared to be coincidental, many saw it as a subtly disrespectful gesture toward Prince Harry.

King Charles III has appointed Prince William as the colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps, according to a statement from the Palace.

According to a statement from the palace, “His Majesty the King will officially hand over the role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.” “The King was happy to announce military appointments in August 2023, following His Majesty’s Accession, including the Prince of Wales’ appointment as Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps. For thirty-one years, His Majesty the King served in that capacity as Prince of Wales.

William is now in control of a unit that Harry used to serve in his current capacity. Harry finished his Pilot’s Selection Board interview and Army Air Corps “Grading” back in 2008. He would go on to train as an Army Air Corps pilot in 2009.

The biography of Prince Harry on the official royal family website stated, “After successfully completing the Army Pilots Course, Prince Harry was selected to train on the Apache Attack Helicopter,” before it was taken down. “It was announced that same day that Prince Harry had received his father’s provisional wings.” Harry found the ceremony particularly noteworthy because of Charles, who at the time was the colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps.

William’s new title was announced during a time when public interest was at an all-time high, in part because of Prince Harry and his father’s strained relationship. A lot of conjecture surrounds their recent exchanges, or lack thereof, during Prince Harry’s most recent trip to the UK, illuminating the intricacies within the royal family.

King Charles’s “full programme” prevented Harry and the monarch from meeting during Harry’s most recent trip to the UK.

Prince Harry did, however, say he hoped to visit his father shortly.

Even though there are tense connections within the royal family, Harry expressed his happiness to be back in the United Kingdom. Thinking back on a recent incident, he described it as “amazing” and complimented Scotty’s efforts, emphasizing the vital assistance they provide to kids.

“The most important thing is that families and children become more aware of this place the more opportunities you have to participate in these kinds of events,” Harry reportedly stated to the BBC.
