Here’ѕ a good reason to always put a coin in the freezer
If you wish to leave on vacation while leaving food in the freezer, you shouldn’t miss this article. Today, we’ll give you a quick trick that will help you assess whether the food you’ve kept in the freezer is okay to eat.
Sometimes, we are away from home when the electricity cuts off without our knowledge. But doing so might cause the frozen food to defrost and degrade.
With just a single mug of water and a penny, one woman came up with a brilliant way for us to check if our refrigerators are still running at maximum efficiency! You wouldn’t again have to worry about having perishable produce in your refrigerator again if you tried this experiment.
The idea was developed by Sheila Pulanco Russell, who demonstrated it using regular tap water. Your refrigerator can keep your food thoroughly cooled and frozen if the penny freezes. It is a very straightforward experiment. If it doesn’t say you’d need to buy a new refrigerator to prevent food from deteriorating, try this at home right now.
In a Facebook post that received tens of thousands of comments and shares right away, Sheila gives instructions. She claims:
“I just got a great tip for all of you leaving the coast,” I said. It’s referred to as the “one-cup tip.” A cup of water is in your freezer. Once it has completely frozen, place a quarter on top, and store it in your freezer. This will let you know whether your food just went bad while you were away and then refroze it, or whether it was still frozen when you got home after being evacuated.
If the quarter has defrosted completely and has reached the bottom of the cup, the food should be discarded. However, if the quarter is either at the top or in the center of the cup, your food may still be fine. It would also be a great idea to have this in your freezer at all times so you have a backup plan in case of a power outage.
If you don’t feel good about your food, simply throw it away. The wellbeing of everyone is paramount. Please SHARE this on your page. Thank you.
In any case, if you’re not sure if the food is safe, throw it away. The most important aspect of life is and will always be your health.
