Do you recall the classic Christmas cartoon featuring Rudolph the reindeer, whose nose gave off a funny red glow?

Imagine now that these deer actually exist, but instead of having a snout, they have bright horns.

Surprisingly, these horns also save their life. When you visit Finland, you can observe this.

A group of investigators journeyed to Finland to see this peculiar occurrence.

Even a winter wonderland that resembles a picture from a fairy tale has significant issues.

Reindeer-related accidents have been a major issue for the Finnish government for a long time.

The truth is that deer frequently cross the road at night by jumping out onto the track.

Sometimes it’s too late to slow down because of inadequate lighting, which causes not all drivers to detect them right away.

The largest issue facing the area is this one, since there are roughly eleven incidents involving reindeer every day.

All of this points to the possibility that one of the accident victims suffered severe injuries.

The first place was where the Finnish government and reindeer herders saw the solution to these issues. Ranchers still lose their livestock even with government compensation, and drivers, at most, are forced to put their cars into duty.

This is how the Finnish Reindeer Herders Association’s director, Anne Ollila, chose to take advantage of brilliant paint.

She thought of a way to draw attention to the deer on the highway.

Anne and the other workers painted the skin, some fur, and the antlers with fluorescent paint that glows in the dark when illuminated by headlights from passing cars.

Everything functions in the same manner as a bike vest that is worn while highway riding.

The notion of painting the horns has proven to be successful. There have been unsuccessful attempts in the past to lower accidents by attaching reflectors to animal collars.

Reflector lights mimicked other automobiles’ headlights, tricking onlookers into thinking the deer was simply another vehicle traveling in the same direction as them, thus they frequently didn’t feel the need to slow down.

But the test has been passed by the luminous paint. And now that Anne and the association have been creative, there is an improvement in road safety.
