Chris Hemsworth Opens Up On ‘Retiring From Hollywood’ After Alzheimer’s News

Chris Hemsworth recently clarified rumors about his retirement from acting, sparked by his revelation about a genetic predisposition for Alzheimer’s disease. The Thor actor shared this information during an episode of his Discovery+ series “Limitless,” where he explored ways to improve longevity.

During the episode focused on memory, Hemsworth underwent brain analysis, revealing he carries two copies of the gene APOE4, associated with a higher risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

Contrary to assumptions, Hemsworth’s decision to take a break from acting was not solely due to this discovery but had been planned beforehand. The 40-year-old actor intended to spend quality time with his children, India Rose, Tristan, and Sasha, alongside his wife Elsa Pataky.

Hemsworth expressed frustration at the misconceptions surrounding his hiatus, stating in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, “It really kind of p*ssed me off because it felt like I had been vulnerable with something personal and shared this.” Despite clarifying that his genetic predisposition is not a death sentence, the narrative shifted towards retirement and reconsideration of life plans.

While the discovery didn’t trigger his break, it did prompt Hemsworth to make lifestyle changes. Dr. Peter Attia MD, a longevity specialist featured on “Limitless,” advised him on mitigating the risk, emphasizing regular exercise, dental hygiene, sauna sessions, and language learning as beneficial practices to reduce inflammation and delay symptoms.
